Official overview[]

It’s just a normal day on Fruit Salad Island until Fred imagines that a volcano named Melvin is about to erupt. Now Fred and the gang must figure out a way to stop Melvin from erupting and covering Fruit Salad Island in hot lava.

Synopsis[]

The sun rises, and a cheery Fred wakes up and happily rings a gong, waking everyone up. Meanwhile, a cautious Wedgie states that Fred is acting dangerously friendly. Fred jumps out of his palm tree house and towards Wedgie, who tries to get off the island by using a pair of gigantic wings made with bamboo. Instead of escaping, he gets bonked in the head by Fred and falls into the ocean. Fred lands next to Slip and Slide D' Peel, who both show Fred their underwear by pulling them over their heads. Fred grabs their underwear and rips eye holes into them and turning them into fancy undertarts, quickly making the two famous thanks to them. Bingo tries to avoid Fred by hiding in a shell, which quickly leads to Fred finding him and telling him about his "exciting plans." A montage of Fred's previous antics begins, showing Fred and Bingo riding a firecracker, Fred and Bingo being scooped up by aliens, and then being chased by a leprechaun for stealing his gold. Bingo tells Fred that he might just rest today, but Fred doesn't know what the word rest is. He begins saying it incorrectly, causing Bingo to freak out and ask Fred what his plan is.

Fred says it is the 'third Wednesday of the month', meaning that it's officially Silly Hat Day. They all show off their hats, with Fred wearing a blue Napoleon hat, Slip and Slide wearing a pink hat and a green hat with a black strip respectively, and Bingo wearing a dirty sock. Fred suddenly notices a smiley face cloud in the sky and claims that it's proof that "Melvin is about to erupt". Fred explains that Melvin is a huge volcano, causing Bingo to freak out. Mr. Greenrind blows his whistle and adds a rule onto the squeaky board: "No volcanoes". Mr. Greenrind tells the gang that there is no volcanoes on the island, only to be proven wrong once Melvin suddenly appears and 'farts', which Slip blames on Mr. Greenrind.

Mr. Greenrind begins describing how everything Fred thinks of comes to life, mentioning a walking blender monster, pickle clowns, a Manicorn, a centaur with a unicorn horn on its head, the DoggyCoptor, a dog with a helicopter propeller on its back, the Mangophone, a mango that is constantly screaming, and now: Melvin the volcano. Melvin 'farts' again, causing the people on the island to panic and run around. An unfazed Fred appears above them and begins fake screaming, believing that they are all simply playing a game. Fred goes to the NUT HUT, looking for something to deal with Melvin. He heads to a wise old tiki head, who tells him what to do, via a vacation greeting card summoned from its body. Fred mistakes the people on the card as previous volcano owners, who would wear tropical shirts and dance to stop their volcano from erupting.

Hours later, Fred and everyone else on the island are wearing their 'flowered shirts' and are having a party, trying to get rid of Melvin. Fred even begins playing music from a ukulele, but it isn't working, even when Fred tells everyone to dance faster. The next day, Fred shows everyone a ritual, which is simply just writing on some toilet paper. He tells his friends to follow him to the rim of the volcano, claiming to know a physics-breaking shortcut. Fred and the gang arrive at Melvin's rim, and Fred claims that according to the scroll, the special rituals will soothe Melvin. First, they must create funny beards out of seagull feathers, which Mr. Greenrind quickly does. However, Fred says he was just kidding and that the real first ritual is to whistle a happy song with a mouthful of crackers. Fred and the gang do so, eating the crackers, and whistling a tune to Melvin. Mr. Greenrind accidentally spits out watermelon seeds at Fred, covering his face in them.

The final ritual is to have one of them jump into Melvin as a sacrifice. Fred decided to jump it, but accidently knocks Mr. Greenrind into Melvin instead. Fred runs away, suddenly remembering about Silly Hat Day. A burnt up Mr. Greenrind returns, claiming that he "landed on a ledge and climbed back out", thus tricking Melvin. Melvin, in retaliation, finally erupts. Fred returns with a box full of bubble clams and bladder kelp that he gives to the gang as silly hats. A massive chunk of lava lands on Fred's head, causing the milk inside his body to swell up and make him grow to massive proportions. He falls on Melvin's rim, clogging the volcano and saving everyone on Fruit Salad Island. Mr. Greenrind tells Fred that he and the rest of the people on the island are going to have a sand sculpture competition, while Fred would probably spend the rest of his life clogging Melvin up with his forehead. Meanwhile, the remaining lava from Melvin travels into the ocean and erupts from the sea, hitting Wedgie, who was attempting to escape the island on a makeshift boat. The lava hardens into a pillar of charcoal and an annoyed Wedgie slams his fist on it, causing it to crumble and bonks Fruit Salad Island into the ocean.

Fred's silly hats save the gang by dragging them upwards above the water. Suddenly, a whirlpool appears and begins flushing everyone into the volcano. Everyone begins screaming and Fred once again starts fake screaming, believing they are playing "The Panicking Game" from earlier. The water finally finishes sinking and a big carved in smiley face appears on Melvin, showing that they had made him happy.

A pink cloud floats out of Melvin, making a fart sound. Slip and Slide believe that Melvin 'farted' again, but Fred, now with his ukulele, tells them that this time, Melvin didn't do it, but Mr. Greenrind did. Fred starts playing his ukulele and sings a short jingle about Mr. Greenrind farting. He says his catchphrase: "Yay Me!", ending the episode.
